More than 600 senior high school and graduating college students, Guidance Counselors and teachers participated during the Career Advocacy Symposium last January 16, 2019 held at the ABL Sports Complex, Capitol, Kalibo, Aklan.

The event was spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Provincial Government of Aklan thru the Aklan Provincial PESO in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of the 1963 elementary and 1973 high school batches of Aklan College, Aklan Academy, RMSAT, NVC and other schools in the province.

Ms. Carmela M. Abellar, OIC Head of DOLE Aklan Field Office acknowledged the participating schools and attendees. Meanwhile, Ms. Vivian Ruiz-Solano, Provincial PESO Manager delivered the special message prepared on behalf of Gov. Florencio T. Miraflores. She also provided a summary of the talks and closed the program.

Moreover, the speakers were introduced by Ms. Nynn Arwena G. Tamayo and Engr. Amelia Torres-Dionela, both alumni of the celebrating elementary and high school batches.

The Resource Speakers shared their experiences and expertise on job opportunities and finding the right career thru these topics:

  2. Mr. Jose Mari Q. Aldecoa, President of Village Motor Traders and Next Gen Motors
    Topic: “Entrepreneurship Then and Now”
  3. Engr. Greg V. Aguilar, President of Global Resources Energy, Inc.
    Topic: “Career Opportunities for Filipinos in the Global Marketplace”
    An open forum was also conducted after the talks to entertain questions and queries from the students with Ms. Sharon Mae V. Julian, PESO Staff as Mediator.
